And i thought it is good way for teacher to teach using visual, for students will be more intersting in learning language. And Ms. Kate as a presenter open my mind that there are many visual tools to show. Because in my mind before watching the video i only use picture as my visual media. But she told teacher could use maps, comic, film, poster, symbol, even infographs that i just know about it. And she told that visual can be used for all english skills. by Anugrah Cahyo Hudi

  3. One important thing to create an interactive class is students’ engagement. Using visual literacy is an excellent idea to realize it. It can be a tool to enhance communicative language practice, critical thinking skills, and vocabulary development. This webinar shares several examples of the visual aids used in EFL classroom. As the teachers, we have to choose the appropriate visuals for our students regarding to relevance between the visuals and the materials. Besides, we have to adapt the exercise s to the students’ language level. It is really inspiring, Mr. Rudi Hartono. Thank you.

  5. Katie Subra brings visual literacy skill as one way to engage students in the classroom. She gives examples on how to choose and use visual objects to teach in EFL classrooms. The best thing is that visual literacy skill can be utilized for any age of learner at any level. Also, the idea of asking students to bring their own visual object in the classroom is very interesting since it will make the students write and talk about what they like. This can be a model of student centered activities in the classroom.

  6. Webinar 5.4: Using Visual Literacy Skills to Encourage Communicative Language.
Picture tells more than words, but in this context of webinar is that the teacher as the facilitator, actualizes the students’ communicative competence; encourages them to explain many things inside the pictures and prompts audience to response it. Thus, the teacher brings them to develop their schemata, so that they could present their idea communicatively. Learning through this kind of media means that the teachers have utilized and culturally relevant materials, developed content-based vocabulary, motivated students’ visual learners, promoted students’ critical thinking, etc. The students can use many kinds of pictures, such as scenery, advertisement, maps, timelines, graphic novel, comic, etc. Thank you Mr. Rudi.

  7. In teaching and learning process, a teacher have to find the way how to deliver the material to the students. The teacher should engage the learners so they will learn easily and enjoy the teaching and learning process. One of the way is by providing visual literacy. It has been a great interest for many English teachers about the use of visual in teaching and learning process. Many researches showed that visual literacy is effective in engaging the students and creating a good learning environment. The teacher can get the learning material in the form of visual literacy from many sources, like internet, or even media social. It would be a great help for the teacher to deliver the material in the classroom. Moreover, the speaker also provides the way how to choose appropriate visual literacy for the students since the teacher cannot randomly choose the visual literacy for the students. It is a great video, thank you Mr. Rudi.

  8. Using visual to teach students might be a solution of how to overcome students ‘difficulty in learning English. Visual objects give students schemata in their mind of what they want to explain. It helps them build their comprehension and knowledge. Besides that, they will also feel confidence to train their skill in teaching and learning process. Thus, the enjoyable teaching and learning will be achieved.
