Dear students,
Today's topic is "Photography in ELT: Engage, Inspire, Create, Learn". This session is very interesting for English teachers to manage their classroom. Photographs as the visual media can enhance learner engagement and language outcomes. You can apply to use
photography-related activities for teaching English in the classroom and you can encounter for the challenges or ask your students to use image-makers (cameras or mobile-phones) for taking pictures. In order to make it clear how to apply the photography in ELT classroom, you can click the following link: https://dos-materialsdevelopment.adobeconnect.com/_a1017942336/p20dnz3dae8/?launcher=false&fcsContent=true&pbMode=normal. Webinar 5.6 shares the strategies of using photography to engage, inspire, create, and learn in ELT. Photography is one of visual aids supposed to be important to keep students’ attention. Using photography is fun since it provides visual and interactive learning for better retention. I often use photography when teaching. Taking, using, and sharing personal photography will be beneficial to engage and inspire the students. Morever, nowadays, instagram and blog are well-known and used by the students. We, as the teachers, can use instagram and blog in ELT. The students create their own photos and give comments each other by using English. Therefore, the students can learn English, including grammar, vocabulary building, and storytelling both when they post captions and comments. That will be such an exciting activity. Thanks, Mr. Rudi Hartono.
BalasHapusWebinar 5.6 is brought by Crystal Bock Thiessen from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It introduces and demonstrates photography-based activities and lessons for building skills in vocabulary, oral expression, creative writing, community engagement, and more for all levels of English learners and photographers. Although the use of pictures in ELT has been used widely, this webinar edition equips us with some new alternative activities using photography in the classroom.
